Who we are

Duty Belt makes scheduling, attendance and POST compliance software for California basic academies. Questions about this policy go to hello@getdutybelt.com.

This website

You can read this website without giving us any personal information. We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't sell or rent information about visitors. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to run and protect the site.

If you call, text or email us to book a demo, we keep what you send us, such as your name, agency, phone number and email, and use it only to reply and to schedule and follow up on the demo.

Records academies keep in Duty Belt

Academies use Duty Belt to keep schedules and records about recruits and staff, such as attendance, deficiencies, makeups, appraisals and physical training. That information belongs to the academy. We handle it on the academy's behalf, under our agreement with the academy, and only to provide the service.

• We never sell it, rent it, or use it for advertising.
• We never share it with anyone except people the academy has given access to, the service providers that host and run Duty Belt for us, or where the law requires it.
• We treat it as confidential, with California's confidentiality rules for peace officer records in mind.
• Recruits and staff with questions about their records should contact their academy, which controls them.

How we protect information

Every person signs in with their own account, access is limited to what each role needs, and information is encrypted when it travels and when it's stored. The Security page has more detail.

How long we keep it

We keep academy records for as long as the academy uses Duty Belt, or as our agreement with the academy says. When an academy leaves, it can export its records, and we delete them on the schedule in that agreement unless the law requires us to keep them longer.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Email hello@getdutybelt.com and we'll respond. For records an academy keeps about you, we'll work with that academy, since it controls them.

Children

Duty Belt is built for adult recruits and academy staff. It isn't intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
